Mass-production of High-quality Magnetic Nanoparticles


Magnetic nanoparticles were originally applied in mechanical components, such as vacuum sealing, heat extractor, etc.  In 1990’s, magnetic nanoparticles have been applying in bio-medicine.  For example, magnetic nanoparticles are useful to enhance the contrast of magnetic resonance imaging.  Magnetic nanoparticles are promising for improving the delivery efficiency of drugs.  Hence, the demand in bio-medical markets motivates the build-up of companies to produce magnetic nanoparticles.  In last ten years, there are lots of magnetic-bead manufacture companies found in US, EU, Japan, and Taiwan.  MagQu Co., Ltd. is one of magnetic-bead manufacture companies.  Worthy noting, the size of magnetic beads provided with MagQu is different from that currently available in markets. MagQu’s magnetic particles can be range from 25 to 140 nm in diameter, depending on customers’ demand.

MagQu synthesizes high-quality magnetic nanoparticles via chemical co-precipitation method.  MagQu are able to synthesize 1000-ml magnetic nanoparticles dispersed in PBS solution per batch.  The material of magnetic core of the magnetic nanoparticles is Fe3O4.  To stably suspend the magnetic nanoparticles in PBS solution, magnetic cores are coated with hydrophilic layer, e.g. dextran.

By well control the synthesis recipe, high-uniformity magnetic nanoparticles dispersed in PBS solution can be obtained. The mean diameter of magnetic nanoparticles can be manipulated from 25 to 140 nm. For a given mean diameter of magnetic nanoparticles, the coefficient of variation in particle diameter can be between 5 to 30 %. The high stability of magnetic particles in PBS solution stored at 4 to 20 oC is demonstrated by monitoring the particle size evolution during the storing period.  Therefore, MagQu is professional in synthesizing high-quality, high-uniformity, large-volume, and high-stability magnetic nanoparticles dispersed in PBS solution.
